Expungement Lawyers Are Here To Fight For You In Opelika, Auburn, and Surrounding Communities
On April 7, 2014, Alabama State Legislature passed the Alabama Expungement Bill, which allowed Alabama Residents who have been charged – but not convicted – of a non-violent felony or misdemeanor to erase or expunge their record. There are special stipulations to this law, however. To be considered for expungement for misdemeanor offenses, the charges must be dismissed with prejudice, no-billed by a grand jury, and the defense must be found not guilty, or the charges must have been dismissed without prejudice two years prior to your expungement claim, without being refiled. Felony charges are, of course, more difficult to expunge. The act only allows for expungement of non-violent felonies and could include completion of programs such as drug treatment or mental health treatment. At Agricola Law, we understand how detrimental it can be to a person’s livelihood to have criminal charges on their record, and the idea of being able to cleanse this record is intriguing for many people. We take each case personally and fight for our clients as hard as we would fight for ourselves.
